The survival of basketry and twinning from prehistory are rare, although traces have been found on clay pots for thousands of years. Two amazing survivals are the twinned knife sheath found with Otzi in the Italian Alps and the fantastic coiled basket found at Whitehorse Cist on Dartmoor.
Join experimental archaeologist and workshop leader Vanessa to uncover the skills required to create your own version of these pieces. You will learn about their history before being guided through the process of choosing and preparing materials before using period accurate tools to create your own piece to take home.
Along with this workshop you can join us for an overnight stay at the Ancient Technology Centre. This is booked separately though their website https://ancienttechnologycentre.com/courses
